FindUs Keepers ("we", "us", or "our") operates finduskeepers.co.za and the FindUs Keepers mobile app (together, the "Service"). This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what choices you have.
We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) and other applicable law. By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Who this policy applies to
The Service is intended for adults in South Africa who are:
- Employers — people looking to hire domestic workers, gardeners, babysitters, carers, and similar help; and
- Keepers — people offering those services and creating a profile on the platform.
Visitors may browse parts of the Service without registering. The Service is not directed at children under 18.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect:
- Account details — name, email address, password, and account preferences.
- Contact details — phone number and location or suburb you provide.
- Profile and job information — services offered or sought, availability, experience, skills, languages, photos, references, and other details you add to your profile or job posting.
- Identity-related information — date of birth, gender, nationality, and South African ID number where requested on our forms.
- Communications — messages you send via contact forms, email, or support requests.
- Payment-related information — purchase history (for example, contact-credit packages). Card payments are processed by Stripe and PayPal by PayPal. We do not store your full card number.
Information collected automatically
When you use the website or app, we may collect device and browser type, IP address, log data, session cookies, and search queries (for example, location when searching for keepers). The mobile app may store sign-in tokens securely on your device so you can stay logged in.
Information from others
Keepers may provide references. Users may leave reviews where that feature is available. Payment providers confirm whether a payment succeeded. Image and email providers may process data on our behalf.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- create and manage your account;
- display keeper profiles and employer job listings;
- match employers with keepers based on location, services, and preferences;
- operate contact credits — employers purchase credits and use one to reveal a keeper's phone number;
- process payments and send service emails (sign-in links, verification codes, receipts, and notices);
- respond to support requests, enforce our Terms of Use, and maintain security; and
- improve the Service.
With your consent or where permitted by law, we may send marketing emails. You can unsubscribe using the link in those emails or via your account settings.
5. How long we keep information
We keep personal information while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise information where reasonably practicable, except where we must retain records for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including HTTPS on the website, access controls, and secure handling of authentication tokens on the mobile app. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure — please use a strong password and keep it confidential.
7. Your rights and choices
Under POPIA, you may have the right to access, correct, object to, or request deletion of your personal information, and to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).
Update your profile by signing in on the website. Request account deletion from account settings or by emailing us. Manage cookies through your browser settings — blocking essential cookies may affect sign-in.
8. Children
The Service is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
9. International users and transfers
FindUs Keepers is focused on South Africa. Some service providers may process data in other countries. Where information is transferred outside South Africa, we take steps required by POPIA to ensure appropriate protection.
10. Links to other sites
The Service may link to third-party websites (for example, payment checkout). We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please review their policies before providing personal information.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If changes are material, we may also notify you by email or through the Service.
